Worship

We are trying a couple of new and different worship events at the moment, but our church diary includes the following...

Sunday Morning @ 10.30am

- Very often our Sunday morning worship will be familiar to many people who have attended most churches. There will be a music group who will lead the service, bible readings, a talk & prayers. We aim to make church interactive, and will try to allow some time for people to discuss the theme. There may be some use of video, or of PowerPoint and images.

'Scruffy Sunday' - Once a month, Sunday evenings at 6.30pm

- Not that we are a really formal church - but this is a very informal service! It will be led by a worship leader, there will be some songs, but time for everyone to talk about things that have encouraged them, answers to prayer, prayer requests and personal stories about our faith. There will be bible readings, noise, stillness.... and it may look a little unplanned!

Cafe Church - Every so often... 10.30am Sunday Morning

- Cafe Church is an opportunity to either discuss themes that we have been looking at in the preaching rota, or events that are happening in the world around us, and how that challenges  & inspires our faith. In cafe church there will rarely be any singing, and there will not be a sermon. A theme will be introduced, and then can be discussed in an informal way around tables over a cup of tea/coffee and some muffins! Take a look on our Facebook page for the next Cafe Church Service!

EPIC - Every so often... 10.30am Sunday Morning

- We realise that church doesn't always do all-age stuff very well!! We noticed how rarely young and old were given the opportunity of being in church together, and we noticed how church was great for people who learn by listening, but not so good for others. We have been influenced by much of the emerging worship groups and by some of the new forms of worship that you may find at places like Greenbelt.

So we read a book by called 'Postmodern Pilgrims' by theologian Leonard Sweet, and he reckons that church should be EPIC

  • Experiential (where we don't only listen a sing, but we experience something of God using different senses and learning styles)
  • Participatory (where we all join in actively rather than sitting in rows of pews or chairs!)
  • Image Driven (because we live in a world of images, and a picture can tell a thousand words... or so they say!)
  • Connected/Community (because society today is disconnected, and church should be a place where we are community together, and do stuff together)

So, we are trying to be EPIC! Sometimes it works well, and sometimes not so well! But we are trying to do something a little different... and we are always open to suggestions!

Our plan this year is to have six EPIC services and open the church up for a few days after for people to come along and have a look and to spend some time with God. if you would like details and dates for the next EPIC event have a look on our Facebook.

These are a few images from EPIC services.... we will post more on the Facebook page as we go along!

We also have regular services in a local residential home on Sunday evenings, and other events, prayer meetings, home groups and bible studies too. If you would like any details take a look on Facebook, or email us on windsorbaptists@yahoo.co.uk
